YOU WILL REMAIN WHERE YOU ARE IF YOU DON'T DO THIS !

You need to do this. Your success requires. You will remain where you are if you don't do this.

When is the last time you engaged with someone that has greater influence than you, with the purpose of learning from them to grow, equip, and empower yourself so you can do the same for others ?

As living organisms who have the ability to constantly learn, and develop. Therefore we have the capability to constantly grow. In order to constantly grow we must expose ourselves to things, resources, and people who have something greater to share than we have experienced or have knowledge of.

Plants must be exposed to natural light and be provided water on a regular basis in order to grow. However if plants remain in the same small pots they started in their roots will be restrained and so will their growth.

Throughout our lives we will eventually run into people who will motivate us and encourage us ..hopefully they get to us in time. Growth and development is like oxygen to our success. We can't hope we will get it.  Growth and development  is like blood that runs through our veins that assist in providing elements to our muscles.  If we do not exercise those muscles and expose them to challenges that build and strengthen them they will cease to get stronger and are useless at taking us any further than we have gone.

If you want to get on your journey, make progress on journey, and eventually reach your goal you must be INTENTIONAL about GROWING.

What is your plan to meet and engage with influential people who can assist you in growing and developing ?

Who are you surrounded by on a weekly basis that is equipping and empowering you to get to your GOAL.

*DO NOT CONFUSE THIS WITH PEOPLE WHO ARE PROVIDING YOU WITH RESOURCES, AN ENVIRONMENT, TRAINING AND ENCOURAGEMENT TO KEEP YOU IN A PLACE WHERE YOU ARE TOO COMFORTABLE TOO MOVE FORWARD TOWARD PROGRESS.

In order to grow and develop you must surround and systematically engage with people who will share with you knowledge, information and resources that will EMPOWER and EQUIP you. These people will allow you to transform and transition to places where you will be CHALLENGED in order to GROW to where to want to GO.

Take 60 minutes of your day to :


1. Find a coach you can engage with on a regular basis that will assist you in getting to your goal.

2. Find  several mentors you can talk to who have accomplished what you want to accomplish. Get on their calendar each month to share your plans and experiences so they can provide you feedback.

3. Join a group and organization that meets  regularly that supports your goal.

4. Evaluate your circle of associates and friends and make a list of ways you can adjust that circle to include people that will add value to you and limit your time with people who do not.

If you FAIL to be INTENTIONAL on taking these actions in order to GROW you will remain where you have always been.

5. Make time on your daily/weekly schedule to grow. WRITE IT DOWN NOW !! What time will you do it ? Where will you do it ? With whom will you do it ? How long will you do it ?

Red Roses, Sweet Chocolates and Sour Hearts

Valentine's Day is coming. Across the country many people will be purchasing roses, flowers, candy, jewelry and other nice gifts for their significant other. Some people have planned a romantic weekend that include a get a-way at a nice hotel with reservations at a classy restaurant. Others will wait for the last minute and run to the convenience store to grab a box of chocolates on the way home. Some poor souls are so far in the dog house right now that no amount of candy, or roses on February 14th will be of any help.

For too many of us Valentine Day, Christmas, and birthdays are the only time we invest in the relationship we have with these people we say we appreciate, value, and mean the world to us. Each day of the rest of the year is spent maintaining the relationship by just going through the motions. You do what you do, they do what they do, like two cogs in a machine. Choirs are done, bills are paid, children are taken to and from school, food is prepared, weeks start, weeks end, and the process repeats itself.

Days go by, months go by, and some times years go by, and each of you reminisce for the energy, effort, and passion that you shared at the beginning of the relationship.

Cars require gas to be driven,but even with gas only eventually they will breakdown without the required maintenance, care and attention. Relationships are alive and they require intentional investments that allow them to grow. Relationships are dependent on actions that breathe positive air into them.  The people in relationships have emotions and feelings that blossom and bloom like flowers when showered with words of sunshine.  The hearts within relationships pump with passion when they are showered every so often with appreciation and compassion.

Even without difficult challenges such as cancer and infidelity the normal wear and tear of life takes a toll on individuals and their relationships. Our relationships are a lot like plants. Relationships start as only seeds and grow when we invest in them. When we stop investing in our relationships with intentional actions the roots of the relationship that are unseen get stifled. The unseen roots are like a person's deep emotions,but they affect what happens to the leaves of the plant above the dirt and the actions of the individuals in the relationship that are seen daily.


Intentional actions that purposely recognize the appreciation of those we value is required. These Intentional actions are needed before and after Valentines Day, not just on anniversaries, and not just on birthdays. We must be intentional when it comes to the growth of our relationships, or we will find ourselves just existing in them. If we are just content on driving our relationships like cars, and are too busy to stop for gas, we will eventually drive the relationship until it stops or the engine burns up.
